The cistercians order:
The Cistercians, officially the Order of Cistercians, are a Catholic religious order of monks and nuns that branched off from the Benedictines and follow the Rule of Saint Benedict.
The Seat of the Cistercian Order is located where the ancient Roman city Cistercium originated, near Dijon, France, in the commune of Saint Nicolas les Citeaux in the Cote d'Or department in the Burgundy region. This abbey was named Novum Monasterium by Roberto de Molesmes to differentiate it from the Molesmes monastery where it comes from.
The Cistercian order played a prominent role in 12th century religious history. Their influence was particularly important in eastern Elba, where the order "simultaneously advanced Christianity, civilization and the development of the lands."
